What should I do with my neighbors and my pet chicken?

Well it's a little weird because I have a pet chicken … Well I got it a year ago and makes a noise when it is inside his cage. One day, my neighbor leaves his house and something heavy lifts slamming on the ground which startles my pet chicken. Then he looks at my backyard and sees me with my chicken pet. Maintaining a Chicken is legal in New York but it just does not feel being around him? Maybe its because I was keeping my chicken pets for a year? How can I convince him to believe that chickens can be really pets? Should I tell him a lie? Because I not want everyone in my neighborhood to know that I have a pet chicken? I do not want people to file reports and my chicken taken away from me … What should I do?!

If chickens are legal to keep in your area (they are legal almost everywhere) and you do not overlook the chicken, there is nothing he can do to take the chicken away from you.
