How can we eliminate food odors in our house Open Plan?
We have a new house in open area, two stories. When I a meal, the food smells permeate the house, even if I run the fan off the top. Our staircase, which is centered in the house, acts as a ventilation shaft and pulls the odor on the floor. When it is warm enough (we're in Ohio), we open the front and back doors and turn on fans in all bathrooms. I spray a little air spray neutralization, but my husband hates the smell, and I can certainly not use anything with fragrance. Despite this, almost every morning we wake to the smell of fried or grilled chicken dinner or whatever that was, which is not very attractive to six hours and frying bacon on Sunday morning! Damn! We have an air cleaner attached to our house HVAC system, but this does not seem to work, at least not very quickly. We considered buying an air purifier whole room, but they are so ugly and strong. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you very much.
Depending on which direction it turns, a ceiling fan will direct the air upward or down. Keep the air downwards. (But hot air rises, if you work in spite of home design.) (I suppose you taking good care replace the filters in the HVAC system.)
